As you explore the magical world of Hogwarts Legacy, you will often discover mysterious items and collectibles scattered across the world. The Ancient Magic Hotspots are a great example of such items that help you level up the Ancient Magic meter while counting towards 100% completion. Maxing out this meter will give you powerful abilities and can be handy in combat against formidable enemies.
This guide will tell you the location of all the Ancient Magic Hotspots in the game.
All 20 Ancient Magic Hotspots
There are 20 Ancient Magic Hotspots which can be found all over the map. Each location will have 3 runes that you need to collect by interacting with the pool of magic.
Forbidden Forest Ancient Magic Hotspot locations
The 1st Ancient Magic Hotspot is located in the Forbidden Forest region as seen above. Once you reach there, enter inside and then interact with the pool of magic.
The 1st Rune can be found by entering through the frog on the right and proceeding further through the wooden ramps
Similarly, the 2nd Rune can be found near the staircase by fast travelling through the 2nd frog. Last but not least is the 3rd rune which can be found by using the 3rd frog by heading down the balcony.
The 2nd Ancient Magic Hotspot can also be found at the above location in the Forbidden Forest. Use the Confrigo spell to clear the cob of webs and then collect the 1st Rune.
Climb the wall and you will find the 2nd Rune waiting for you. The 3rd Rune is hidden under the stone pillar.
Hogsmeade Valley Ancient Hotspot Location
The 3rd Ancient Magic Hotspot is located in the Hogsmeade Valley and the hotspot can be found outside the gate. Use the ladder on the right by climbing up the staircase and then turn left to use the Confrigo spell.
Enter inside to collect the first rune and use the spell to drop the stones hanging on the pulley. Climb the wooden ledge on the left to collect the 2nd rune. Dive down into the shaft where the pulley is located and you will find the 3rd rune next to the wooden chest.
North Hogwarts Ancient Hotspot Locations
The 4th Ancient Magic Hotspot can be found in the North Hogwarts region as shown above. Activate the hotspot near the archway and then use the Confrigo spell to clear the pathway.
Collect the 1st rune near the tomb and then destroy the wooden board next to it to enter inside. The 2 remaining runes can be found inside with one located in the left corner while the other one can be found by flipping the switch next to the trap door.
Hogwarts Valley Ancient Hotspot Location
The 5th Ancient Magic Hotspot is located in the Hogwarts Valley as shown above. Activate the Magic Hotspot and then follow the blue trail to the ruins behind you. Here you will find the 1st Rune waiting for you.
Head over to the broken wall next to the ruins and you will find a cube inside which can be used to climb the wall. Climb the stairs and then use the Confrigo spell to burn the leaves blocking your path. You will be able to collect the 2nd rune in the right corner.
Go back to the location where the cube was placed and use it to climb the wall on the right this time. Dive into the hole with the ladder and you will be able to collect the 3rd rune.
The 6th Ancient Magic Hotspot can be found in the Hogwarts Valley at the above location. After activating the hotspot, use the confrigo spell to clear the blocked door on your right and then crawl through the gap on your right to collect the 1st rune near the wooden boxes.
Exit the area and use the ladder on the wall to get to the platform above. Here you will find the 2nd rune waiting for you near the gap in the wall. Proceed further and then climb the ladder in the next area. Clear the boxes blocking your path and then kill the spider inside to collect the last rune.
The 7th Ancient Magic Hotspot is located at the above location in the Hogwarts Valley region. Once you reach there, go through the stairs and then turn left to activate the hotspot.
Use your broomstick to fly over the garden on your left and you will find the 1st rune there. Turn around and then fly over the pillar on the right next to the hotspot to collect the 2nd rune. Last but not least, the 3rd rune can be found near a small hill further in the forest.
The 8th Ancient Hotspot can be found near a Floo Flame and the community centre as shown above. Activate the hotspot and then use the Confrigo spell to destroy the leaves blocking the door on your left.
Enter inside and destroy the crates on your right to collect the 1st rune. Use your broomstick to fly up and you will find the 2nd rune on the wooden ledge on the left side next to the treasure chest. Go further up until you reach the top of the castle and you will find the last rune waiting for you on the balcony.
The 9th Ancient Hotspot is located in ruins found in the Hogwarts Valley at the above location. Use your broomstick to fly over the top of the castle and you will find the hotspot there.
Once you have activated the hotspot, use your broomstick to fly over to the ledge with the wooden shed and cast the Confrigo spell to collect the 1st rune inside.
Jump down towards the right and then flip the switch to open the closed gates. Here you will find the 2nd rune waiting for you.
Head over to the large shed opposite to you and then use the Confrigo spell to clear the leaves blocking your path. Grab the wooden box and use it to climb the platform on your right. After climbing the ladder, you will be able to collect the last rune in this location.
The 10th Ancient Hotspot can be found at the above location in Hogwarts Valley. Activate the hotspot and you will be able to collect the 1st rune after destroying the large cobweb in front of you.
Proceed further and be careful of the spiders lurking in the area, go straight and defeat the large red-coloured spider called the Venemous Matriarch to get the 2nd rune. Climb over the wooden box on your left and then traverse through the ledge to turn left and grab the 3rd rune.
Feldcroft Region Ancient Magic Hotspots Location
The 11th Magic Hotspot can be found near the river stream in the Feldcroft Region.Once you reach there, use your broomstick to fly over to the entrance of the castle and activate the hotspot.
Enter inside and proceed further down the path while traversing through the stairs and then climb the wall to collect the 1st rune. Equip your broomstick and then fly across to the ledge on your left to collect the 2nd rune. Jump down towards the left and cast the Confrigo spell to collect the 3rd rune in the location.
The 12th Magic Hotspot is located near the ruins in the Feldcroft Region. Equip your broomstick and then fly across to activate the hotspot inside the ruins on your right. Head outside and you will find the 1st rune waiting for you just across the way.
Use your broomstick to fly across towards the large tent created with wooden beaks of trees. Turn around and you will soon spot the 3rd rune on top of the castle on your right.
The 13th Ancient Magic Hotspot can be found near the river stream in the Feldcroft Region. Activate the hotspot and climb the ladder in front of you to collect the 1st rune.
Proceed further to climb up the castle and you will find the 2nd rune next to the iron gate.Use your broomstick to fly towards the left and you will the last rune waiting for you on a wooden platform.
The 14th Ancient Magic Hotspot is located at the edge of the cliff as shown above. Activate the hotspot on the balcony and then head down the staircase to collect the 1st rune.
Use your broomstick to fly over to the ledge on your right and there you will find the 2nd rune waiting for you. Jump down into the hole next to it to collect the 3rd rune in the location.
Poidsear Coast Ancient Magic Hotspots location
The 15th Ancient Magic Hotspot can be found at the above location on the Poidsear Coast. Activate the hotspot and use your broomstick to fly across and collect the 1st rune on the first floor of the large house behind.
Jump down and enter through the door on your right, crawl through all the gaps and spaces to use the Lumos spell on the vines blocking your path. Here you will find the 2nd rune waiting for you.
Head outside and climb the wooden platform behind the small hut on your right. Destroy the wall with the Confrigo spell and then pull the switch to open the door. Jump onto the ledge above the switch and you will be able to claim the 3rd rune for yourself.
The 16th Ancient Magic Hotspot is also located on the Poidsear Coast. Activate the hotspot where the cat is standing and then use the Alohomora spell to unlock the door.
Use the Confrigo spell to destroy the fragile wooden wall blocking your path and then clear the rocks on your left to claim the 1st rune. Use the broomstick to fly up and then towards the right through the gap in the rooftop.
After entering inside, you will be able to grab the 2nd rune on the wooden ledge. Jump down through the gap on your right and navigate through the gap to collect the 3rd rune.
Marunweem Lake Ancient Hotspot locations
The 17th Ancient Magic Hotspot can be found close to the river in the Marunweem Lake area. Activate the hotspot next to the tomb with a shield on it. Equip your broomstick and fly over to the platform on your right to grab the 1st rune.
Jump down and then head into the door at the end of the castle. Use your broomstick to fly up and claim the 2nd rune. Go down and then turn left to pull the two large boxes covering the switch next to the door. Flip the switch and enter inside to collect the 3rd rune.
The 18th Ancient Magic Hotspot is located on a bridge in the Marunweem Lake area. Activate the hotspot and then use your broomstick to fly over to the wooden platform on your right to collect the 1st rune.
Fly across to find the 2nd rune hovering on the boat on the left side of the bridge. Go up using the broomstick and then turn left where another part of the castle is located on the large wooden platform. Unlock the locked steel door to claim the 3rd rune for yourself.
Manor Cape Ancient Magic Hotspot Location
The 19th Ancient Magic Hotspot can be found in the Manor Cape. Head inside to activate the hotspot and then use your broomstick to fly up and collect the 1st rune on the first floor.
Fly up further and you will find the 2nd rune on the second floor on your left.Exit through the gap and then elevate yourself until you reach the 3rd floor where you can grab the 3rd rune.
Cragcroftshire Ancient Hotspot Location
Last but not least is the 20th Ancient Hotspot which can be found close to the river in Cragcroftshire. Enter through the door on your right to activate the hotspot and then climb up the staircase until you reach the top. Here you will find the 1st rune at this location.
Climb up the broken ledges to proceed further and you will be able to grab the 2nd rune in the corner. Jump down to the platform below to add the final rune to your collection.
