Hogwarts Legacy, the popular game set in the Harry Potter universe is reportedly getting a sequel. According to rumours, the developers are already working on a sequel for the game and have no plans to release an expansion or DLC for the current game.

Hogwarts Legacy, the open-world RPG title was widely praised by players despite being at the centre of several controversies leading upto its release. The game broke all viewership records on Twitch and has sold over 15 million copies grossing over $1 billion from sales emerging as the highest-selling game of 2023.
Given the tremendous success, it’s only natural to expect the company to release a sequel soon. Warner Brothers recently posted a job listing leading to further speculations and rumours about a potential successor being in the works.
The job listing reportedly says “Join the team behind the blockbuster open-world action RPG Hogwarts Legacy as we create what’s next”.The developer Avalance Software has confirmed in the past that there are no plans for a DLC which means that the WB is only working on the sequel right now.
The company is currently looking for an Associate Software Engineer and a Senior Character Technical Artist to work on the sequel. While there is no official confirmation, it is likely that the successor to the highly successful game is already in the works.
Warner Brother Games President David Hadad also mentioned in an interview with Variety before the launch, “We are very pleased with the initial launch and see a bright future for our other platform launches. Our goal is to continue to utilize our amazing library of Warner Bros. Discovery franchises as we develop our future slate of games”.
This means that the company is likely to expand into the Harry Potter universe for its “future slate of games”.it is worth noting that the development of Hogwarts Legacy took over 5 years, it could be a while before its sequel is revealed.
Given the open-world RPG nature of the game, it could be at least three to four years before the release of Hogwarts Legacy 2. While the attachment of J.K Rowling’s name to the project has caused some controversies, it is unlikely to deter the publisher from working on a sequel.
